I’ve been thinking a lot about community lately. In I Corinthians 12, Paul describes the Church as a Body – a living organism made up of many different parts, each member contributing something vital to the whole.
One of the things I love most about Bethany is looking around our sanctuary on any given Sunday morning and seeing so many differently-equipped members of our Body bringing expression to their unique gifts within the context of worship.
Dan shared last month about our desire to nurture a similar sense of community in Bethany’s evening service. We are grateful for the small core of people the Lord has drawn consistently to this service over the past few years, but have been feeling the pangs associated with an incomplete “Body.”
How might the Lord bring more completeness to the evening service congregation by drawing some additional “members of the Body,” transforming a service put on by a few into a worshipping community in which we are all invited to participate?
Are you a current evening service regular who’d like to continue nurturing community in worship at 5pm? Are you a morning attender who feels drawn to the idea of participating in a developing community on Sunday evenings? If so, we’d like to hear from you!
Flyers will be available in Sunday bulletins giving you opportunity to “voice” your commitment. Beginning mid-February, we hope to gather about 50 people who are willing to dedicate this next year to the evening service worshipping community.
