If you have the chance, ask Kathy Cranston about the behind-the-scene ways God mobilizes people to use their unique gifts and callings in response to the Great Commission. She may ask you to pray for a pastor and his family preparing to move to Indonesia or a truck driver poised to hit the road transporting Bibles into China.
A Bethany mission partner since 1993, Kathy first served for 10 years with Latin American Mission in Costa Rica and Miami. In 2003 she returned to Seattle to work in the office of Mission to Unreached Peoples (MUP) as a candidate manager, preparing missionaries for service across Eastern Europe and Asia, often in closed or sensitive countries.
Passionate about helping people find and succeed in the place God has prepared for them to serve, Kathy provides guidance and practical assistance during the crucial months between a candidate’s acceptance and his or her departure for the field. If candidates don’t already know where God is leading them, Kathy works with them to see where God is opening doors.
Along with helping people arrange placement, raise support, and develop communication tools like newsletters, Kathy works hard to prepare people to deal with realities like spiritual warfare and culture shock so that they can be successful long term.
People at Bethany can help by supporting Kathy in prayer and, if the Lord leads, by giving financially. If you’d like to be part of Kathy’s prayer support team, contact her at KathyC@gatiwa.com.
