When I hear the Bethany choir or attend third service, or when the arts group displays a project, it reminds me of Jane Gunningham. A vital part of our church, Jane now works with World Concern in the Sahel region of West Africa.
Jane is in Africa coordinating projects in women’s health and micro-financing for development. A skilled linguist, Jane is also helping World Concern obtain official non-government organization (NGO) status for projects in Burkina Faso and Chad - two of the world’s poorest countries with large Moslem communities. We miss her here, but her quick wit, talents, and love are serving people there.
This month Jane is in Chad, helping World Concern prepare to bring in a disaster response team for the thousands of refugees pouring over the border from war-torn Sudan. Please pray:
- that World Concern’s application for emergency NGO status is approved
- that Jane finds the right facilities to serve as a base of operation for the World Concern director of relief
for the many tasks waiting for Jane in Burkina Faso, including starting up supplemental feeding programs for women and children in May.
Jane went to Africa trusting that God would meet her needs. She had most of her support when she left, but costs are higher than anticipated. Therefore, her practical need is for more monthly financial support.
Stop by the mission bulletin board outside the fellowship hall to see the many ways you can partner with our wonderful friend Jane.
