A Crazy Blessing

jessica crosbyby Jessie Crosby

Many have called me crazy for wanting to work with middle school students but I know the truth; middle school students are the best! I have been blessed to work with Bethany’s Middle School Youth Group for the past six months as the intern and it has been an incredible experience.

Every Tuesday in February we went through a series on “God and Culture”. The focus of this series was on how our relationship with God and different aspects of our culture affect one another. We had two different groups that met each week; one group was on music and the other was on advertising. The students took part in discussions and activities that helped them see how faith influences these areas.

At the end of the month we had an amazing time at Northgate Mall participating in a Dweeb Hunt! Eight parents and leaders volunteered to disguise themselves and then go to Northgate Mall and wander around. The students were given an hour and a half to find as many of the disguised leaders and parents as possible. It was a great hit and none of it would have been possible without all of our wonderful parent volunteers.

In March we discussed sex and relationships. Later in the month we had an overnighter at the church with a delicious breakfast in the morning. God is working in amazing ways in the Middle School and I cannot wait to see what He has planned for us.
