Pastor DanBeing Still / Pastor Dan Baumgartner
Whenever I lead a memorial service or a wedding, somewhere near the beginning of the service I issue a friendly invitation that sounds like this...

Caring Ministries Offer Help
Jill Bell, Elder for Prayer and Linda Cutshall, Director of Congregational Care
"Who will help me? How will I make my way?" Life throws us curves, setbacks and losses. We're not meant to weather turbulent times alone, but are designed by God to need Him and each other. Bethany has several ministries with women and men who are happy to come alongside others.

What Would It Look Like? / Michelle McFarland
Bethany sits exactly one block away from McClure Middle School. During any given weekday at around 2:15 pm, you will see kids by the dozens spilling out onto the sidewalks and at the bus stops chatting loudly with friends...

BPYG High School Steps of Faith / Scott Gronholz, Youth Director
bpyg youthOne of my favorite movies growing up was "What About Bob?" - about a man named Bob and his unhealthy attachment to his psychiatrist, Dr. Leo Marvin. Early on in the movie, Dr. Marvin teaches Bob abou tthe concept of "baby steps," - taking small steps on the road to mental health and stability...

Gold Basin Camping Trip
Can you believe that it was 10 years ago that the Bethany family started taking their annual summer camping trip to Gold Basin? The group campsite, located near Darrington on the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River, has seen young and old, married and single Bethany-ites all enjoying God's creation in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest....

Group Life Resources
The Group Life team has been at work looking for ways to resource your home group! We've placed many resources in the library for you to check out, and have compiled a list of resources that many Bethany-ites have found fruitful. Is your group looking for a new study? Give one of these a look!

Esperanza / Mike Christensen
The phrase "short term mission" usually brings to mind places like Kenya, Honduras, or China, but this opportunity is on the ruggest west coast of Vancouver Island. Esperanza is the name of the mission base for Esperanza Ministries, a Christian mission that has been on the coast for seventy years. They serve the people of the isolated coast including the first nations people scattered along the west coast of the island.

Bethany will travel to Esperanza by car and boat from Sunday, August 10 until Saturday, August 16. We will enjoy a time of working together to support the mission base, learn about the life and work of missionaries and enjoy a great week of getting to know each other as a Bethany group.

This is an opportunity open to anyone and is an especially good opportunity for families with younger children. Kids have a great time there. Space will be limited so if you have questions or interest, contact Mike Christensen (mikechristensen47@gmail.com or 365-7808).

Children's Ministries

Come Down to the Farm!

During the week of July 21-25 Bethany will be turned into Son Harvest County Fair, where children age 3 to 5th grade will learn about The Fruit of the Spirit through silly skits, wild games, delicious snacks, active Bible stories and activities, an engaging mission project, energetic cool songs and a really fun County Fair on Thursday afternoon! The time is 9:30 am - noon each day and we are in the middle of finding over 150 youth and adult leaders to help in a huge variety of ways. Contact Kristen Wilhite at kristenwilhite@gmail.com to sign up.

Summer Sunday School

Summer Sunday school for children begins on June 22. Parents are reminded to let Dianne know which Sunday they'd like to serve and in which class. Otherwise a date and class will be assigned.

Curriculum and support will be provided by our children's ministry team. This is a great way to get to know other parents, and other Bethany children!

Session Notes

Bethany elders and staff met on April 8. Dave Andersen led a biblical journey on the topic of "blessing." Steve Jones presented a financial update, and some data on financial pledges for Session to consider.

The elders spent time in small groups sharing and praying. There was conversation over the issue of food and drink in the sanctuary, which will be revisited in May. Matt Royston gave an update on the Wednesday Night Dinner ministry.

Session spent an extended time praying for the WND community, and many other people and needs at Bethany.
