Joseph and I didn’t know each other before Alpha last year. In fact, at this time last year, I didn’t know a single person among the eight others in my Alpha group. Now, I can’t imagine my life without them! Joseph will be the first to tell you that before Alpha he considered himself a strong and happy person with no need for church but it was important to his girlfriend, Dana, (now his wife) and so, when two others in our group invited him to Alpha, he and Dana came. “
I thought everybody in the group would be ‘Christianity experts’ and I would be just a novice with nothing to add,” he said. “But, in fact, the exact opposite turned out to be true – I actually had a lot to contribute to the experience! Every single person in the group had questions. I realized that my questions brought a different, valuable viewpoint to the group.”
Now, none of us are the same for his having said “Yes” to Alpha. Each one of us in our small group could say the same thing about the others. We came to Alpha in different ways, for different reasons and left with so much more than we expected – hours of great conversation, laughter, shared experiences and genuine friendships – all because each of us had responded to an inkling of curiosity, a desire for connection, a longing to be renewed.
If you’ve been thinking about Alpha, or thinking of inviting someone you know, there’s a reason. Respond to those nudges. Say, “Yes,” open your heart, and you will be blessed!
Alpha begins on Sept. 8th at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall! For more information, or to sign up for Alpha, contact Joy Daniel (jamtranslations@gmail.com, 618-5470).
