Bon Appetit!

by Sara McMahon

What’s in your freezer right now? Is it a Costco lasagna? Maybe some frozen pizzas? An old bag of peas at the very back? Know what’s in mine? Moroccan Chicken, Sweet Potato stew, a frittata, and the list goes on.

The best thing about that list is that I didn’t make any of them. Once a month, I get together with a group of six other ladies and we exchange meals we’ve made ahead of time. We’re basically like Dream Dinners, except that we do it all ourselves. We like it because we have control over what ingredients go into our meals, and are able to choose to use local and organic foods almost exclusively.

It has been a great way to try new recipes and have a freezer full of great meals every month. We’ve been meeting for about 5 years, and it’s been wonderful to see how our group has gone from just a cooking group, to a group of women who
exchange meals made with care and then sit together and talk and pray about what is going on in our lives. Sometimes we get tired of cooking 7 lasagnas at once, but we always make up for it with the wonderful fellowship time.

If you are interested in finding out more about how we make this group work, and how you can start a group like this of your own, please come and join us in the parlor on November 2nd after the 2 nd service. We will be serving a few of the meals we have enjoyed in our cooking group and giving out a few recipes.

Why not consider forming a cooking group?
