meet our interns

Heather Marks

Heather MarksHello everyone! My name is Heather Marks and I am so excited and honored to be a part of Bethany’s ministry as the Middle School Intern this next year! There is nothing that I love more than helping teens know Jesus, and I am anxious to see what God is going to teach me through them and this position this year.

I grew up in Walnut Creek, California and am now a senior at SPU. I am majoring in Educational Ministry with minors in Psychology and Youth Ministry, with hopes of someday becoming a youth pastor. For fun, I love playing guitar and watching classic Disney movies. Finding Nemo, The Lion King, Sleeping Beauty; what can I say? I am still a kid at heart.

I am really excited to learn everything I can from being part of Bethany’s community this year, so if you see me around I would love to talk to you and get to know you. Thank you so much for your love and support as this year starts off!

Leah Koshiyama

Leah KoshiyamaHey! My name is Leah and I'm the High School intern for a 2nd year! I'm excited to be here with Bethany’s amazing teenagers and youth leaders as I continue to explore and discern my calling. I was born and raised in Bellevue, WA and attended Seattle Pacific University.

I graduated in 2007 with degrees in finance and theology. I currently work full-time for Boeing negotiating contracts on the F-22 program and live next door at 7 Howe. Feel free to stop by and say hi!!

In my spare time, I enjoy biking, hiking, snowboarding, and reading.

Chelsea Williams

Chelsea WilliamsHello! My name is Chelsea Williams and I am here at Bethany for the school year working with College Ministry. I’ve just moved up from southern California to pursue relationships with college students, and I am incredibly excited for what this year will bring. I recently graduated this June from UC San Diego with degrees in European History and Religious Studies. A 10-month stint in St. Andrews, Scotland gave me a love (and respect) for rain and wind and where I found that a cup of coffee or tea is just about all I need to feel comfortable.

Between my two loves- rain and coffee- I think I’m primed to enjoy the city of Seattle. My four years at UCSD shaped me in ways that I am only just beginning to understand and appreciate.

I feel honored to be a part of those transformative years for college students here in Seattle. They are exploring and learning about themselves, the world, and other people, and it is absolutely necessary to have encouraging relationships with people who can guide, teach, and sympathize. I found that in my small groups through Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, but mostly through committing myself to my church community at La Jolla Presbyterian. The same type of community- one that encourages deep thought, good fellowship, and supportive relationships- is the kind I would like to help create for the students I meet.

The theme of God’s faithfulness has dominated my own time of transformation and I’m sure God will be faithfully in the midst of the work Bethany has in store for the college students of Seattle!
