It was amazingly easy

wndby Mary Cropp

“It’s amazing how easy it was.”

Those words, spoken by Bethany’s Social Services coordinator Janet Moore, describe a holiday-themed Wednesday Night Dinner thrown for over 300 people on December 17 th. Despite the threat of inclement weather, the intrepid Melissa Elliott braved the storm-anxious crowds at the markets to purchase, then cook, the food necessary to serve the guests. WND Supervisor Karen Rider arranged the decorations created by a 5th grade girls Sunday school class to create a festive atmosphere. A fabulous kitchen crew of sixteen was kept busy serving turkey dinners and offering the gift of fellowship to WND guests.

Bethany’s outpouring of friendship was not limited to only filling guests’ stomachs (though the meal was much appreciated). Bethany’s coat drive netted over 115 jackets and parkas; thankfully, this year most everyone who needed a coat got one. Donated toiletries were assembled into gift bags by children in the congregation, and a bevy of cards were made at advent and Holiday Magic events. Further, 330 pairs of warm socks found their way to recipients who needed them.

Thank you Bethany, for all that you do to show God’s love in this world.
