Men's Breakfast

by Associate Pastor Todd Holdridge

Believe it or not, it was about more than bacon. On May 30, about 65 Bethany men met to pray, worship, talk about living a Christian life at work… and oh yeah, eat breakfast. We heard from a panel of speakers, ranging from a college grad of ’09, to those whose graduation was, ahem, a bit less recent. Our panel speakers came from work experiences ranging from Microsoft, a large law firm, a corporate construction company, small business and a career move to teaching Kindergarten.

Even though their ages and experiences varied greatly, several common themes emerged. All of our panel speakers spoke of their desire to serve Christ in a world that can be inhospitable to Christian faith. Several men spoke of the difficulty living well in a world of unlimited need when one’s resources (mainly time & energy) are limited. Several men spoke of the way Christ often “led” them to new insights and career paths through personal difficulty and failure. And several spoke of how significant a timely encouraging word can be.

Perhaps you or someone you know would be interested in being part of a men’s group. Contact Bob Gerstmyer, elder for Group Life (bgerstmyer@yahoo.com) for more information. For information on activities for men, contact Todd Holdridge (toddh@bethanypc.org). For now, Brian Beaumont will be leading a rafting trip (details below). Other opportunities are coming. Look for the next men’s breakfast in the Fall.
