On the evening of Thursday, July 30th, a group of 37 Bethany High School youth and 8 leaders will board a plane bound for Lisbon, Portugal where they will experience ten days filled with service, fellowship, learning, worship, spiritual growth and whatever unexpected things God undoubtedly has in store for them there. They will spend their time in Portugal working with Serve the City ministry.
The youth have been meeting as a group since February to train, pray and get ready for their experience serving God and His people in Lisbon. Throughout the year they have also been working very hard to earn the funds needed to pay for the trip. Obrigado multo multo (thank you very much) to everyone at Bethany for the amazing prayer and generous financial support that you have already given to these hard-working teens as they prepare for this powerful mission trip experience. With only a month to go, the youth are hoping to reach their final fundraising goal by offering their services to the Bethany congregation in two specific ways:
Do you have a big weeding project that you just haven’t gotten to yet? Are you hoping to finally get that garage or basement cleaned up this summer? The Bethany youth can help! The July Youth Work Party Blitz is a “win-win” situation . . . you get a motivated and enthusiastic group of Bethany youth to do the work you need, and they earn money for their mission trip! To reach our fundraising goal, each of our 40 students need 16 hours of work (assuming $15/hour, per student). That’s a lot of work! So please send your work requests to
penneyyoung@comcast.net or call (206) 378-1981 today!
Parents of young children, has it been too long since the two of you have had an evening out alone? Parents’ Night Out on Friday, July 17th is your chance for an evening of uninterrupted conversation, a movie that’s not by Disney or even a meal with candles and cloth napkins! And all the while, your children will be enjoying a fun night of games, crafts, playing with friends and spending time with a bunch of entertaining High School youth (plus some adults and youth leaders)!
You’ll find more information about both of these fundraisers at the Youth Mission Trip table in Bethany’s lobby starting Sunday, June 28.
