Hello! My name is Jenny Cade and I am finishing up my career at Seattle Pacific University (SPU) with two more quarters of student teaching at Adams Elementary in Ballard. I double majored in Theology and Elementary Education. I grew up in Bozeman, Montana, and although I loved it I decided to take a chance with the “big city.”
Other than being far from my family I’ve loved everything about Seattle…even the rain! I’ve always known that God intended me to work with children. I started teaching Sunday school at my home church when I was ten, and haven’t stopped working with children since!
I came to SPU to pursue Elementary Education, but clearly God had something additional in mind for me. I quickly became swept away by the theology classes at SPU and eventually majored in Educational Ministry.
I met Dianne Ross through my last class for the major, and she introduced me to Godly Play. I immediately fell in love with Godly Play because I could see its value from the educational aspect and the theological aspect.
The first time I sat through a story, it brought me to tears. I couldn’t wait to learn more. Dianne spotted my excitement a mile away, and took me on as the Fall intern—specifically for Godly Play.
Already , I’ve learned so much about Godly Play, but I’ve also had the wonderful opportunity of participating in some staff meetings and special events. I have to say, I am constantly blown away by this church and how it operates. I’ve never been apart of such a prayerful and genuine community. I can already tell that this experience is going to be more valuable than I could have ever anticipated.
I’m grateful that God (and Dianne too!) has given me this wonderful experience. With that said, I’m honored to be a part of thiscommunity, and I’m so excited to get to know some of you and see what God has in store for this Fall!
