As the next World AIDS Day on Dec. 1 approaches, the Bethany community is invited to participate in a number of events designed to update us on our child sponsorships and partnerships.
Our hope is to concentrate our attention on the AIDS crisis and explore opportunities to show God’s love and concern for his people in Kenya. The events being planned by the KAPP (Kenya/AIDS Prayer and Planning) Team will happen during the last two Sundays of November.
On November 22 , we will focus on our sponsored children in Nairobi’s Soweto community. With the help of World Vision staff, the congregation will have an opportunity to learn what has been accomplished so far in this and what the goals are for its remaining years.
As part of this effort, the KAPP team is trying to contact all the Bethany families who have sponsored children in the Soweto ADP. Letters are being mailed to all the sponsors who have been identified. Anyone who is a sponsor and doesn’t receive a letter is asked to contact Renee Fredrickson or the Bethany office so that we can have an accurate list.
On November 29, we will continue our focus on our work in Kenya with information and displays about our other mission partners, such as Christ’s Gift Academy, Sheepcare School and Myatima. People can learn how your tithes and offerings have furthered this work.
There will be an opportunity for individuals to make additional donations and a look ahead to the next short-term mission trip.
