“Deep and Wide , Deep and Wide, there’s a fountain flowing deep and wide…”

Do these words sound familiar? They are the words to my favorite Sunday school song growing up! Though they normally convey an example of God’s love for us, His children, I couldn’t help but think of them as I meditate on this summer’s upcoming internship in Bethany’s children’s department.

In the summer of 2008, I had the privilege of being Bethany’s children’s intern for the first time. It was in this experience that I fell in love with the children and families of Bethany and since then haven’t left! I have continued to grow my relationships here by teaching 2nd & 3rd grade Sunday school, and heading to Mexico last summer for Bethany’s FiS mission trip.

In the past two years since I first met you, I have graduated from SPU with a B.A. in Psychology, and a minor in Educational Ministry. In addition, I have served up your daily latte at a local coffee shop, The Grinder, and nannied for incredible families. This September I will start school again at Seattle University where I will be working on a Masters in Student Development Administration.

So why do these opening words resonate? They remind me of my two desires for the upcoming summer: to go deeper and wider. I look forward to widening my leadership responsibilities as I take on new roles in children’s ministry, and I hope to deepen relationships as I continue to minister to and with the children and families that make up this wonderful church!
