Carl and Lois are focusing on learning the local language of the country in which they live. Each has a private tutor with whom they work for 5 to 6 hours each week. This will enable them to reach out to non-English speakers in their midst.
Carl is currently applying for a one-year research visa, and Lois has committed to teach kindergarten in the fall at the school in which Clinton (grade 6) is attending. Carl and Lois have also been asked to head up a steering committee for a new Junior High Youth Group, which they excited about doing.
Clinton is currently in 6th grade and is attending an international school. He has 15 students in his class, made up of 5-6 different nationalities, and is taking two languages on top of his core classes.
Carl and Lois are attending an international English-speaking church, which has a congregation of about 400 people. They are both attending Bible study groups and hope to find a home group in which to participate.
The Groves plan to be back in Seattle in the summer of 2008 for a visit.
