It is a very special thing when
people enjoy working together and fellowshipping together
week after week. When people still greet you with a smile
even though you are not perfect, and when there is always
a place to help out. Wednesday Night Dinner (WND) is that
kind of place and I look forward to it every week. I think
the 150 people who enjoy a meal at WND each week would
agree that every dinner is a blessing.
I meet a great diversity of
people and hear their stories. It is fascinating to
learn where people have come from and where they are right
now. This is possible because WND is accepting to the people
who enter. There are no entry requirements. There's a whole
table of hearing impaired guests who sit together, long-time
friends who meet at WND each week, retired
firefighters who worked together for many years and an array
of ethnic backgrounds.
I enjoy the work crew at WND.
Besides being a fun group to chat with as we do the dishes,
they are also an inspiring group of Christians who reflect
the love of Christ in the most tangible ways. They
are extremely dedicated, show up regularly, stay until
the place is clean, and cover for each other when someone
needs a break.
An amazing amount of work
goes in to each WND, but with so many hard-working people
pulling together, everything gets done.
Finally, I really enjoy the community at WND. Community
and fellowship are a focus of the dinners. People sit at
tables with great portions of food in front of them and friendly
chatter fills the room. Guests come back week after week
to greet me with a friendly smile and tell me they are glad
to see me. Even when I have trouble with names, there
are no hard feelings. It is a highlight of my week.
