Bethany
incorporates a diverse range of musical expression
within corporate worship, from traditional
hymns to contemporary
praise songs, from the pipe
organ and brass to guitar, violin and drums.
Contact Gary Talbert,
(206) 284-2222 ext. 16, to share your gift in
music.
Choir
The Bethany Choir ministers with music from Gregorian
chant to contemporary choruses. The four-part choir participates
in morning services every other week and in special services
during Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter.
Rehearsals
7-8:30 pm Wednesdays
No auditions
required; previous choral or instrumental experience recommended.
The choir takes a break during the summer.
Praise Ensembles
Instrumentalists and vocalists
lead in worship at each Sunday service. Two ensembles lead
morning services on alternate weeks, and most members in
the evening ensemble serve every other week. Other musicians
share their gifts in a worship time after the Wednesday night
community dinners. Rehearsal times vary; generally before
services.
Sound Technicians
Serving a vital role in the worship experience, techs
operate the soundboard, tape services and set up
and taking down equipment. They are available before services
to work with musicians, worship leaders and pastors to assure
a proper sound mix and volume.
Individuals ages 16 and above may volunteer to assist as sound technicians. Volunteer once or more each month to run the sound board for any (or all) of Bethany's 9 am or 10:45 am services. Training is offered. Some musical background or sound board experience is helpful, but not required. Contact Gary Talbert to volunteer.
Special Music
A regular part of
worship at Bethany includes solos to large ensembles,
vocal or instrumental (or both), diverse but always with
the purpose of enhancing congregational worship. Musicians
serve all three services when the choir is not scheduled
and only during the evening service when the choir is scheduled.
