NEW HORIZONS: since 1978, New Horizons has partnered with youth experiencing homelessness in Seattle on their journey toward housing and sustainability. Every night in King County, homelessness disconnects over 1,500 youth from the resources they need to survive and thrive. Your partnership reconnects youth to opportunity by sustaining empowering resources and supportive relationships at New Horizons.
History of Bethany's Relationship with New Horizons:
Bethany Presbyterian Church has been involved with New Horizons for over 30 years! A former Bethany member, Pete Bylsma, who was also the Executive Director of New Horizons at the time, made the initial connection. Bethany Presbyterian has continued that relationship through financial support, sending volunteers, providing meals, hosting snack drives, and offering prayer support.
Inspired by the love of Jesus, New Horizons partners with Seattle's street youth on their journey to sustainability. They offer drop-in, day programming, emergency shelter, transitional shelter, housing assistance, employment services, and spiritual support for homeless youth between the ages of 13-24. Since Covid-19 hit, New Horizons has drastically increased the care they offer, and has operated as a 24/7 shelter.
